Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Spanish Language Unit of the Radio Section, Radio and Television Service, News and Media Division, Department of Public Information. The incumbent will directly report to the Chief of Unit.

Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Spanish Language Unit, Radio Section, Radio and Television Service, News and Media Division, Department of Public Information, the incumbent is responsible for the following duties:

Researches a broad scope of information sources, printed and electronic; researches and compiles printed sources of information, as well as audio excerpt originating from meetings, press releases, official documents, press conferences, studio interviews, field recordings and live coverage of events related to the work of the UN; assists in the production, live broadcasting and electronic dissemination of programmes; participates in the daily planning and execution of live broadcasts; performs digital audio editing of inserts and other recorded components of programmes; arranges for interviews, including two-way live interview situations; assists in the electronic dissemination of programmes; undertake proactive call and directs mails initiatives to build a client base and nurture relationships; prepares, maintains and updates web page, to include drafting and editing content; uploads/downloads audio files and maintains file structure; manages, updates and further develops internal databases; updates website; generates a variety of standard and non-standard statistical and other reports from various databases; provides guidance and training to interns/volunteers; performs other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience
7 years of experience in public communication, international broadcasting or related multimedia field.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written Spanish and English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.

Assessment Method
Competency-based inteview and/or technical assessment.

Special Notice

Selection of an external candidate is subject to him/her passing the New York Administrative Assessment Support Test (ASAT) which is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Service category in the United Nations Headquarters at New York. To make arrangements to take this test, you may bring in person a copy of your completed Personal History Profile to the General Services and Related Categories Staffing Unit (GSRCSU), United Nations Secretariat, located at One United Nations Plaza (at corner of 1st Avenue and 44th Street), Room DC1-200. GSRCSU receives applicants every Wednesday (except public holidays) between 10.00 am and 12.00 Noon. Persons wishing to take the ASAT are pre-screened and, if successful, scheduled to sit the ASAT at a later date.
